Urskog – A name rooted in nature

The Swedish word Urskog means “primeval forest”—a place untouched, ancient, and raw. That spirit is at the core of everything we do.

Urskog is a Swedish riding concept built on traditional craftsmanship, long-lasting raw materials, and a commitment to sustainability. In every curve and every line, we bring together classic design and functionality—with Mother Earth’s health always in mind.

Born where the streets meet the sea, we started by gazing at the ice-cold Baltic, dreaming of classic wooden surfboards. But with the wind biting and the lead-gray waves rolling over stone beaches, we knew we needed something different. So, we turned our gaze inland, past thick pine forests, elk and lingonberries, past lakes and mountains, and into the heart of the Nordic wilderness.

There, in the depths of the primeval woods—among trolls and faeries, black forest lakes, and moss-covered rocks—we found our inspiration.

Our boards bring this heritage to life. Built with Nordic birch, they carry the feel of classic wooden surf and deep northern roots in every grain and curve. No two boards are alike, just as no two trees are the same.

Production & Craftsmanship

Handcrafted in Sweden, each Urskog board is made with a Nordic birch core and organic wood veneers—our natural alternative to traditional graphics.

We press every board one at a time (single press) to ensure maximum durability and quality. The wood’s natural grain becomes the board’s unique fingerprint, making every ride one of a kind.

Limited & Unique

Every Urskog model is produced in a numbered series and personally signed by our founder, Christoffer Stivén. Because we use natural wood grain instead of printed graphics, no two boards are ever the same.

Our Story

We started shaping our own boards in 2006 and have grown our production to over 20,000 boards per year—all while staying true to our roots.

We’re selective about who we work with, whether it’s retailers, influencers, or collaborators. Urskog has been around for over 15 years, and we’re in it for the long haul.

With full control over our production and meticulous quality checks at every step, we ensure that every board that leaves our hands meets our highest standards.
